What is Homeopathy?
This gentle and effective healing system was founded 200 years ago by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann. Homeopathy is safely and effectively used world-wide by health professionals and consumers alike. Homeopathy is an effective and scientific system of healing which assists the natural tendency of the body to heal itself. It recognizes that all symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person and that it is the patient who needs treatment not the disease.
These ideas may be new to you, but homeopathy has been established for over 200 years. In 1796 a German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, discovered a different approach to the cure of the sick, which he called homeopathy (from the Greek words meaning similar suffering).
Take for example, a case of insomnia. The way of opposites (conventional medicine or allopathy), is to treat this by giving a drug to bring on an artificial sleep. This frequently involves the use of large or regular doses of drugs, which can sometimes cause side effects or addiction.
The way of similars, the homeopathic way, is to give the patient a minute dose of a substance, such as coffee, which in large doses causes sleeplessness in a healthy person. Perhaps surprisingly, this will help the patient to sleep naturally. This is a very simplistic explanation, but should help you understand the basic principle of "likes cure like".
Homeopathic medicines work by stimulating the body’s own immune system. When undertaking homeopathic therapeutics - you will use a remedy that matches your symptoms as you experience them, as well individual characteristics: emotional and physical.

A classical approach to homeopathy seeks to find a single remedy that addresses the person's totality of symptoms, and uses that remedy in very low potency, and for as few repetitions as possible.
Remember, homeopathic remedies stimulate your body's own innate ability to heal and bring balance back.
Research & Evidence
Although there is still much controversy around homeopathy, there is a vast amount of research and outcome studies available proving the validity of Homeopathy. Some of it is available from the National Center for Homeopathy (NCH) and at the Homeopathic Educational Services site. Please do your own research and learn what is best for you and your family.
